Co-Founder/ Managing Director
Cory Johnson is a managing director of Pender Capital with more than 13 years of experience in real estate acquisition, development, finance, and asset management.
He is responsible for the firm’s overall financial strategy. He has founded three successful real estate funds which employed value-add strategies through asset repositioning, while maintaining attractive risk adjusted returns to investors.
In 2012, Johnson co-founded Latitude Properties LLC, a vertically integrated real estate investment firm focused on the acquisition, rehabilitation, asset management, leasing, and disposition of distressed single-family residences throughout central and southern California. He successfully oversaw the successful acquisition and stabilization of Latitude’s portfolio of more than100 homes.
In 2008, recognizing an opportunity to reposition assets in the Greater Los Angeles residential market, Johnson co-founded and was managing partner of Paladar Capital Investments, LP and Montero Capital LLC, two funds specializing in the acquisition and repositioning of distressed single family residential assets. During his tenure at the helm of Paladar Capital Investments, LP and Montero Capital LLC, he oversaw the acquisition of more than $67 million of distressed single family residences with gross sales from disposition exceeding $88 million.
In 2006, Johnson served as land acquisition manager for MDC Holdings Inc. and was responsible for acquiring suitable development sites for the nation’s 9th largest homebuilder. From 2002 to 2005 he served as a business development representative for Weyerhaeuser Mortgage Company, a GE Consumer Finance company. During his tenure at GE Consumer Finance, Johnson’s team originated more than $525 million in residential debt.
Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
